Monopoly Succession – Heirloom Edition

This Monopoly Succession set is one of the rarest in my collection. Monopoly Heirloom was produced by WS Game Company – an American company that specialises in designing ‘luxury’ versions of Hasbro games. However, this edition is even rarer due to its ‘Succession’ branding.

This edition was not sold in stores, instead it was given away as a gift in advance of the Premiere of the fourth and final season of the TV show Succession. Succession Season Four debuted on 26th March 2023.

The centre of the board has the ‘SUCCESSION’ logo and the side of the board is marked with the ‘HBO MAX’ logo. Otherwise the game is identical to the Monopoly Heirloom edition.

Additional Information about Monopoly Succession

Hi Callum,

Thank you so much for reaching out! It is so awesome that you were able to obtain one of the Succession Monopoly Heirloom Editions. The information I can give you regarding the unit is that we worked with an HBO hired promotional company to produce this Monopoly for the final season. Unfortunately we cannot share any additional details about the qty produced and the distribution of the units. You definitely have very good fortune to be able to have obtained one of these units!

Monopoly By You – Selfridges Event Christmas 2021

During the Festive Season of 2021, Selfridges (in partnership with Noonah) sold customisable Monopoly editions. These were standard UK editions with traditional UK London properties. Selfridges would then print your Family’s name onto the box and the board – making it unique to every customer.

In addition, customers could select any eight tokens to include with their game – both silver and gold tokens were available to choose from.

The edition could be purchased either online or in-store for £35.

My Edition

I purchased one of these editions from eBay – from the ‘Gungz’ Family

This edition includes: watch, challice, flag, dumbbell, elephant, bird, horse and plane.

Monopoly Secret Vault (2022)

In this version of Monopoly, there are no Railroads, utilities, houses or Community Chest Cards. Hotels can only be obtained through the ‘Vault’ – they cannot be bought.

The Vault starts with: 4 x £100, a Hotel and a Key. The key is the only way to obtain a locked property. The Vault gains an extra £100 every time a player passes Go, and it also receives money taken from the Tax squares and certain Chance Cards.

The Vault is only unlocked with the correct code. Players can make one attempt to unlock the Vault if they roll the Vault symbol during their turn; land on a Vault Space (formerly the Railroads) or pay £100 after landing on a Pay £100 Vault Space (formerly the Utilities).

The game ends when all 22 properties have been purchased or unlocked. Each player collects one extra rent payment from the bank. The winner is then whoever has the highest cash total.

Monopoly Deal Error – Pall Bow Street (2024 Refresh)

In 2024, Monopoly Deal was refreshed with a new look style. The game itself remains unchanged with the same 110 cards as before. However, the first print run (Product Code: 0523-G0351-102) has a major error! The name of ‘Bow Street’ has been misprinted to ‘Pall Bow Street’. The other properties remain unaffected. It appears as every Monopoly Deal in this initial print run is affected.

Monopoly Deal is a card game based on the classic board game. Monopoly Deal was first released in 2008 and this 2024 reprint is its fourth design (Original 2008 edition, 2014 Shuffle, 2017 Hasbro and 2024 ‘Refresh’). Between 2014 and 2017, Monopoly Deal was produced by Cartamundi and was advertised as a part of its Shuffle produce line. The rules and cards have remained unchanged since its 2008 launch.

Pall Bow Street

My edition was purchased direct from a wholesaler – NDA Toys before the game had reached stores (January 2024). At time of writing, this refresh edition is only sold by Smyths, with other major stores still selling the previous (2021) print.

Hasbro Response

When alerted to this error – Hasbro responded that they are aware of the error and are taking action for the next print run. However, the affected batch of Monopoly Deal is currently still making its way to shops.

Dear Callum,

Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc. We do appreciate the fact that you have taken the time to share your experience and observations with us.

Hasbro’s number one concern is to make quality toys that are fun, safe and rewarding for consumers of all ages. That’s why we maintain extensive testing procedures during the development, production, assembly and packaging of all our toys.

Please be assured that we have shared your comments with those who work closest with that aspect of our business.

The team were aware of this and the issue has been amended for all future print runs.

Hasbro also offered to send a replacement game.

Dear Callum,

Thank you for your email.

As we are unable to replace just this card at this time, please provide your full address details and I will arrange for the older version of the game (same game just a different design) to be sent out to you.

May we thank you for contacting Hasbro and if we can be of any further assistance, either now or in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Monopoly Mega (2006+)

Monopoly Mega increases the size and length of a standard Monopoly game. Each colour group now has an addition property – although only three out of four (or two out of three for Brown/Dark Blue) properties are required to be owned in a colour group before houses can be purchased.

Monopoly Mega also adds ‘bus’ tickets, as well as two new types of buildings – Skyscrapers and Depots. £1,000 notes are also included. Monopoly Mega was the first edition to include the Speed Die when it was released in 2006. The speed die was subsequently added to standard releases of Monopoly as an optional rule.
