SpongeBob Monopoly contains optional bonus rules which can be used when a shorter game is preferred.

A ‘Plankton’ token is placed on the first property. Then, every time a 1 is rolled, the token is advanced by one space. The game ends when that token has looped around to the last property.

If a player lands on a property occupied by Plankton, then the player may take it for free, or, if already owned, must pay twice the normal rent.

Once the token has completed a circuit, the players add up the value of their assets and the most money wins!

Every colour group has a ‘Hood’ space. At the start of the game, the Evil Hood token is placed on any one of these spaces.

The token moves from one colour group to another whenever a player rolls a double.

If you land on a property occupied by the ‘Evil Hood’ then you must pay the bank a £200 fine.

In addition, rent cannot be claimed on properties occupied by the ‘Evil Hood’.

Doubles don’t count when rolling to determine rent for a utility, or when attempting to get out of jail free.

  • Tutankhamun (2007)

Tokens are gold coloured. As well as the tradition set of 10, a Money Bag (USA) and Train (Nostalgia) tokens are also included

Monopoly – USA Cities

Monopoly has also been localised for cities across the USA. Produced by USAopoly. These editions, like a majority of USA releases, use the long box format.

Chicago (1995) – US Equities Realty Inc (Happy New Year 1996)

This is the 1995 version of Monopoly Chicago Edition. Instead of the standard tokens, it has eight custom designed tokens. It also includes a sticker on the box and board stating that this is a gift from US Equities Realty Inc.

We hope that you will enjoy this limited edition of the world’s most famous board game. We have customized a small number of the new Chicago Edition of Monopoly by creating special tokens (the pieces used to mark your space on the board) of well-known Chicago landmarks: John Hancock Centre, the Picasso, Chicago Union Station, the Stone Container Building at 150 North Michigan Avenue, the old Chicago Water Tower, One Financial Place, 676 North Michigan Avenue, and the Harold Washington Library. US Equities has been privileged to be involved in the management, leasing or development of many of these buildings.

Similar miniature building replicas produced in the early 1930s and 1940s have recently become very popular collectors’ items – we hope that these will also.

We hope you and your family enjoy playing your limited edition Chicago Monopoly as much as we enjoyed creating it and we wish you a prosperous and healthy 1996

Monopoly – UK Cities & Towns

Monopoly has also been released for a number of different locations. The majority of major towns and cities have seen at least one Monopoly release in the last twenty years. these editions are usually produced by Winning Moves.

There are three designs of these editions – traditional, modern and special token. Traditional boxes look alike, with modern boxes with a redesigned box cover – modern editions also come with a free promotional Top Trumps Card. Special Token editions are similar to modern editions, except there are 6 special tokens instead of the standard tokens.
